Poverty should never be a barrier to a child's future. Through our educational initiatives, we are keeping kids in the classroom. • Action: Ahead of the school terms, we distributed 125 school kits (bags, stationery, and uniforms) and provided term-fee support for 135 underprivileged students. • Impact: Dropout rates in our target communities have stabilized, giving children the confidence and tools they need to succeed.
In the wake of recent severe weather and ongoing economic hardships, hunger remains a critical threat. This year, our emergency response teams have worked around the clock. • Action: We distributed over 320 family food packs containing essential staples (rice, dhal, oil, sugar, and flour). • Impact: We prevented malnutrition in Kuchchaveli Divisional Trincomalee, ensuring that families didn't have to choose between buying medicine and buying food.
Access to clean water is a fundamental human right. We are committed to elevating hygiene and sanitation standards across the country. • Action: We rehabilitated 2 community wells and installed 75 water purification systems in schools and rural households. • Impact: Over 16 people now have daily access to safe drinking water, drastically reducing the spread of waterborne diseases.
As we move through 2026, Sri Lanka continues to face economic and environmental challenges. But alongside these challenges, we have witnessed the incredible power of community. Thanks to the generosity of our local and global donors, Peoples Hands has been on the ground, delivering immediate relief and building long-term resilience for our most vulnerable communities.
Vulnerable communities across Trincomalee, Mullaitivu, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya continue to face urgent food insecurity following recent emergencies. Your support is crucial — a contribution of LKR 15,000 provides one family with an emergency food pack.
Join us in reaching 1,500 families who need this support most.
